How to Use Dilemmas
Dilemmas are interactive group activities. Your students will use their own devices to participate. These ready-made sessions can be used as warm-up activities and may spark further exploration of a topic. Follow the steps below to find out how to use this feature.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Log in to your account here:
Step 1
Click on the Everything menu and select Dilemmas if you would like to use this feature on Ellii.


Step 2
You can select a category to help you narrow down the topics. Click on a topic to select it.

Step 3
You can begin a dilemma by clicking on Start Dilemma.

Step 4
You can preview a dilemma, useful language related to the dilemma and its related materials by scrolling further down the page.



Step 5
After clicking Start Dilemma, you will be presented with a QR code that students can scan with their mobile devices to take them to the poll as well as a website address and a code (for students are using a laptop/PC).

Step 6
The number denotes how many students in total are in the dilemma. You can also see the name of the participants under the QR code.

Step 7
Once all your students have joined, click Start.

Step 8
Click Continue to start the dilemma.

Step 9
The situation will be displayed and students can vote in real-time. Clicking on Show results will allow you to view the students' responses.


Step 10
Clicking on Discuss in groups will allow you to give students time to discuss the dilemma in groups. Click Start to begin.


Step 11
Clicking on Speak up will allow students to back up their choices by sharing their thoughts and opinions with the whole class. Click Start to begin.


Step 12
Clicking on Vote again will allow students to revote in order to compare the results from before and after the discussion. Click Okay to begin.


Step 13
Clicking Show results will show the outcome of the second vote.


Step 14
Clicking Final Results will show the comparison from the votes before and after the discussion.


Step 15
Teachers can click on New Dilemma to choose another dilemma or End Session to finish the session with your students.
