How to Post Ellii Assignments on Canvas

Teachers can copy a tokenized link from any assignment on Ellii and that link should be pasted on Canvas as an External Tool link. Please follow the steps below to find out how.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Note: In order to find the LTI link, teachers need to have an Ellii account, create a class and add materials to the Teaching lane of this class. We are looking into ways to simplify this process however, for the time being, the creation of the assignment on Ellii is still necessary.

Step 1

After adding a lesson to your class and ensuring that it is in the Teaching lane, click on the lesson and select Copy LTI Resource link.

Step 2

On Canvas, when adding a new item to a module, select External Tool, then paste the link, choose a title for the item and keep Load in a new tab checked.

Step 3

Alternatively, you can also create a new Assignment and choose Ellii as the External Tool on the Submission Type.

At this point, students with access to that course module will be able to see the Ellii assignment.

Step 4

Canvas offers a Student view option for teachers. We adapted this feature so teachers can also jump to Ellii and see what a student will see.
